When I began working on this article, I wanted to do the best to represent everything about me: a born and bred, true to its name East London girl with roots in Bangladesh. While Brick Lane may be the most infamous thing about our history in London, it is a speck on what I consider a sophisticated and intellectual culture. So, I racked what few brain cells I have left to put together something that covers Bangladeshi arts, food and culture in London. And yes, our cultural influence does extend beyond bloody Aldgate!
Pick up a copy on your way to work or on your way home, learn something about someone you've never heard of, try food you've never tasted before, appreciate that this city is a great microcosm of the world's nationalities, all within walking distance! Isn't that in essence what it means to be a Londoner?
