Venice II- Art Biennale
The main reason I wanted to go to Venice this summer was because of Art Biennale. It coincided conveniently with the school summer holidays so I wouldn't have to rush back to teaching when I returned. La Biennale Di Venezia was an art exhibition that was spread across two mammoth sized venues, Arsenale and Giardini. There was a section dedicated to each country with featuring artists. You had everything from Ireland to New Zealand! Unfortunately, Southeast Asia went largely unrepresented, with no artists from India, Pakistan or Bangladesh. Hopefully in the future, grand exhibitions like this biannual festival will recognize the importance of diversity and representations of other minority cultures.
If you would like to know more about the featured artists, please check Variant Space (link to be updated) where I will be posting a full article on the exhibition.
